The Green Bay Packers use several former league players as assistant coaches, media members, and physical trainers. However, one previous player received a significant promotion.
On Twitter, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Harris has been promoted to assistant head coach and defensive backs coach.
Harris, 49, has overseen the Cowboys’ defensive backs since 2020, fostering players like Trevon Diggs and Da’Ron Bland.
18 years ago today: “We want the ball, and we’re gonna score!”
Al Harris intercepted Matt Hasselbeck and returned it 52 yards for a score to seal the game in overtime.
McCarthy and Harris collaborated with the Packers from 2006 to 2010, his first several seasons as NFL head coach. Both will continue to collaborate closely to strengthen Dallas’ outstanding secondary.
After Dan Quinn left for a head coaching post with the Washington Commanders, the Cowboys will continue to rely on the secondary to induce turnovers, but with a new defensive coordinator. Veteran coach Mike Zimmer’s quarter-coverage plan will put the team’s defensive backs to the test.
