With the signing of wide receiver Keon Coleman in April, the New Orleans Saints could continue their tradition of adding former Florida State players to their roster. Following an outstanding season in Tallahassee, the dynamic player is regarded as one of the best prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.
A report by New Orleans’ Nick Underhill.Football believes that the 6’3”, 214-pound wideout may return to his home state of Louisiana when his name is called in a few weeks. Coleman is one of the few prospects the Saints will bring in for a top-30 visit.
Coleman led the Seminoles in receiving yards and touchdowns last season, totaling 50 grabs, 658 yards, and 11 scores. The Opelousas, Louisiana native stood out from the outset of his tenure in garnet and gold as a big-bodied and aggressive receiver to complement colleagues Johnny Wilson and Jordan Travis, who will also enter the NFL Draft.
The Saints hope to improve their receiving corps, as they entered the offseason with only Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, and A.T. Perry under contract. They made strides in free agency by signing Cedrick Wilson and Stanley Morgan, Jr. However, they continue to hunt for more depth and competitiveness. Coleman, a former Seminole who impressed at the NFL Combine, is one of the possibilities gaining traction. Despite not having the fastest 40-time (4.61), NFL scouts remain optimistic about his potential influence at the professional level.
Coleman was a top-ranked transfer from Michigan State who spent one year at Florida State before deciding to join the NFL. During his three years at college, he accumulated 1,506 yards and 19 touchdowns while dominating on special teams, adding 300 yards in the return game. As a receiver, all-purpose player, and return specialist, he won First-Team All-American and First-Team All-ACC recognition. He was the only player in FSU history to receive all-conference honors in three different categories in the same season.
