Throughout his career, Carlos Alcaraz has suffered numerous minor ailments, and he is just as perplexed by them as everybody else is as he attempts to understand them.
Alcaraz didn’t play in the first two events of the clay season, so it hasn’t started as he had hoped. He missed them both because of a non-injury-related physical issue that prevented him from participating in Barcelona and Monte-Carlo.
It’s noteworthy to note that, given how much time he has already missed, he appears to still be less than 100% ready for his opening encounter at the Madrid Open. The Spaniard has previously struggled with little ailments as well as a couple larger ones that forced him to miss several months of action.
As he ages and becomes more prone to injuries, it is not encouraging for his future. As Alcaraz explained to Marca, he is concerned about it because he doesn’t entirely understand why it occurs.
“The truth is that, even if I am doing everything right—sleeping, eating, training, and so on—I still frequently question myself why I am not understanding certain situations or occasions, and then I become injured. Ultimately, we must deal with injuries.”
Things just happen for no apparent reason sometimes, but Alcaraz thinks the future is promising. He believes that by taking action now, it would all pay off later on and prevent him from getting hurt.
“Although I have trained well and feel physically well, my body is not finished at the age of 20. It will take my body a few years to acclimatise to this load. I think things will improve if we take care of ourselves these years. But I’ve asked myself this question a lot, and I’m not sure I understand it.”
