Tyreek Hill was unable to contain his ecstatic response to the Tyler Boyd trade by the Titans.
On Tuesday, the Tennessee Titans added a significant player to their roster. Tyler Boyd, a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, was signed by the Titans to a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million. Tyreek Hill, a receiver for the Miami Dolphins, also noticed the deal and responded enthusiastically on social media.
The star of the Dolphins responded to the Titans’ depth-bolstering move on X:
Hill wrote, “Titans WR core nasty oooo,” along with a tearful, smiling emoji.
Since he is the leader of an excellent receiving core, Tyreek Hill would know. In 2023–24, the Dolphins standout had his fourth season that was worthy of an All-Pro selection. Although Tyler Boyd hasn’t quite achieved these levels yet, his presence should help Tennessee advance.
After being selected by the Bengals with the 55th selection in the second round of the draft, Boyd began his career with the organisation in 2016. In 16 games during his first season, he ran for 603 yards and one touchdown, demonstrating his tremendous promise. After playing in just 10 games the previous season, Boyd’s output fell, but he took a huge step forward in the 2018–19 campaign.
In just 14 games, the former Pittsburgh Panther racked up 1,046 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns. Boyd carried over his success into 2019–20, finishing with a career-high 1046 yards and five touchdowns. For the following few seasons, he was a dependable offensive player for the Bengals. Most famously, Boyd gained 828 yards and five touchdowns in 2021–2022, the year Cincy finished second in Super Bowl 56.
Boyd is coming off a 667-yard and two touchdown season in 2023–24. His relationship-building experience with Will Levis and Ryan Tannehill will be greatly aided by his time spent playing alongside Joe Burrow.
Tyler Boyd joins Cincinnati’s head coach Brian Callahan, who was the Bengals’ offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2023, after the latter was fired. Boyd will also become a part of the gifted receiving core Tyreek Hill mentioned.
Bengals’ offensive output soars in 2024–2025
Treylon Burks, a 2022 first-round pick, Calvin Ridley, and Deandre Hopkins make up Cincinnati’s receiving core. Hopkins, who only appeared in nine games with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022–23, is coming off a strong comeback season. In 2023–2024, the Pro Bowler caught 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns.
Conversely, Calvin Ridley’s output with the Jacksonville Jaguars was almost exactly the same. He participated in all 17 regular season games and gained 1,016 yards and seven touchdowns.
Although Treylon Burks has not made the kind of leap that some Titans supporters had hoped for, he has a solid base from which to grow. In his debut season, Burks gained 444 yards and one touchdown. His season total was 221 yards and one touchdown.
The gifted receiving core of the Titans is expected to lead the club to success in 2024–25. After finishing last in the AFC South with a 6-11 record, Tennessee is now in the offseason. Derek Henry, a talented running back, left the organisation in free agency, a major blow.
Following an unprecedented eight years with the Titans, Henry inked a contract with the Baltimore Ravens. It will be difficult to replace his enormous offensive role. Tennessee, though, will make every effort to combine its returning and new players for a strong performance.
