Despite Leny Yoro’s desire to go with Real Madrid, Manchester United isn’t willing to give up on the Lille defender, according to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports.
Regarding the signing of center-back Matthijs de Ligt, the Red Devils and Bayern Munich are presently in advanced negotiations. It’s expected that the Dutchman will join the team shortly.
Sheth said that United isn’t ready to quit up on acquiring Lille’s Yoro and that the team hasn’t ruled out signing more than one center back.
Although United’s £42 million deal for the adolescent has already been accepted by the French team, the teenager is holding out for a dream transfer to the European champions.
The Red Devils’ offer for the “very ambitious” wonderkid, whose contract with Lille expires at the conclusion of the following season, has not yet been matched by Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
United is still keeping a close eye on him. If more center backs are signed, Victor Lindelof will probably go as well. Raphael Varane recently left on a free transfer.
Yoro De Ligt has been one of the top distributors in European football, and United has big plans to sign him. Last season, he had a nearly 94 percent passing accuracy rate. He ought to be Varane’s perfect replacement.
Alongside De Ligt, it was suggested that the team look for a left-footed center defender, although Everton is now putting up a fight to acquire Jarrad Branthwaite.
With a valuation of £70 million, the Toffees have rejected United’s most recent offer of £50 million.
Yoro would be a better signing for the Red Devils given these conditions. The Frenchman, who is only 18, has all the qualities to succeed in the Premier League.
Last term, Yoro completed 92% of his passes, compared to Branthwaite’s 80%. He prevailed in duels by a similar margin (63 to 65 percent).
Yoro has impressed with his excellent positioning, but Branthwaite is superior at tackling and clearing his lines. Yoro is also much more composed.
Yoro and De Ligt would be excellent additions to United’s defense in the middle for the upcoming year.
