Smith’s criticism of a particular dish made popular by Buffalo might have gone too far.
Jonnu Smith most likely won’t be taking a vacation in Buffalo anytime soon. In light of Smith’s less than kind remarks about Buffalo and its supporters, it’s also safe to assume that Bills supporters will extend a “special” greeting to the Dolphins’ new tight end when he and his teammates visit Orchard Park this autumn.
“That’s why their fans be behaving so (bad), because they wanna be down here,” Smith stated only recently on “The Dive Bar Podcast.”
During his two years with the Patriots (2021–2022), Smith played in Buffalo three times. He wasn’t shy about sharing his opinions about Buffalo. Jones not only tore into the city but also tried his hand at a Buffalo specialty.
“That’s got to be the worst place you can be in the world,” he stated. “The Buffalo wings aren’t really that delicious either. I’m making a lot of jabs at Buffalo.
There are some people who would prefer to live or visit somewhere else, and Jones is probably in this category. Buffalo, like most cold weather places, isn’t for everyone. Nevertheless, even if you’re not a Buffalo Bills fan, Buffalo is undoubtedly a pleasant city with some of the kindest residents you’ll find. I say this having recently visited.
When it comes to his opinion on Buffalo wings, Smith is incredibly wrong. Personally, I’d choose Duff’s, where the ambiance of the restaurant—which features four hanging jerseys of former Bills players Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, and Andre Reed—rivals the wonderful wings.
Though I don’t agree with his assessment, I will give Smith credit for being willing to voice his opinion despite essentially courting criticism from the Bills Mafia on November 3, when the Dolphins visit Buffalo.
