BREAKING: Smyth contemplates on NFL proposal deal

NFL Ireland reports that CHARLIE Smyth has signed with the New Orleans Saints.

The Mayobridge man, a Down u-20 winning goalkeeper, was invited to test out for the Saints this week.

The move occurred after excelling at an NFL combine in Indianapolis earlier this month in front of scouts from all 32 teams.

It was followed by another great performance at a ‘pro day’ hosted at Florida State University.

Smyth is one of four Irish prospects, including Monaghan goalkeeper Rory Beggan, who participated in the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.

The presentation also included Darragh Leader, a former Connacht rugby player, and Wicklow goalkeeper Mark Jackson.
