With rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud and first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans, the Houston Texans made the playoffs far sooner than anticipated.
In the 2024 NFL Playoffs, Houston defeated the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round before falling to the Baltimore Ravens in the following round.
The Texans and their supporters should be thrilled with the organization’s trajectory despite their playoff exit, as they appear poised to contend for many years.
After making blockbuster trades for Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon, general manager Nick Caserio saw an opportunity to fully commit to this current roster, giving Stroud even more offensive options.
The league was completely taken aback by the Mixon deal, and Caserio finally revealed how it came to be on Around The NFL.
Joe was scheduled for release. We assessed him as a player and believed he could be of some use to our team, Caserio stated. In response to the previous query, pick up the phone and speak with the team. Hey, that would be interesting. Are any of you willing to forfeit a pick, or would you still be interested if we did? In a sense, that is how the trade was completed.

Devin Singletary and Dameon Pierce rotated for Houston, but Mixon is anticipated to assume the role of the team’s lead back.
With his increased versatility in the backfield and his strong running and pass-catching abilities, Mixon is a formidable asset to a Texans team that looks poised to contend for a Super Bowl championship.
