YouTuber George Bryan was inches away from winning a unique qualifying event for the Myrtle Beach Classic, but has now been handed an entry to the PGA Tour event anyway.
After coming agonisingly close to qualifying for the PGA Tour’s Myrtle Beach Classic, YouTube personality George Bryan’s wish came fulfilled in May when he was granted an exemption to the event.
Bryan endured a late heartbreak at The Q in Myrtle Beach, a one-of-a-kind qualifying event for the new PGA Tour tournament that allowed golf influencers and YouTube stars to enter.
George, one half of the famed Bryan Brothers YouTube channel, made a mistake on his final hole, forcing him into a playoff with Korn Ferry Tour winner Matt Atkins, who defeated him.

Bryan’s despair turned to elation when the Myrtle Beach Classic organisers called and awarded him a spot in the field after all.
“I am there!” Bryan exclaimed, “Holy cow,” after hearing the news.
“I’m not going to lie, when you mentioned a call, I was hoping for the opportunity to play in a PGA Tour event. “It is a dream come true.”
The March qualifying event featured YouTubers Peter Finch, Grant Horvat, and Micah Morris, Barstool Sports’ Dan Rapaport, Nick Stubbe, nicknamed Fat Perez from Bob Does Sports, and Luke Kwon of Good Good Golf, but George Bryan was the standout.
Bryan had a two-shot lead over Atkins on the 18th hole, but he hit the water and saw his par putt come within inches of dropping – before his opponent made a birdie putt to force a playoff.
From there, the more experienced pro Atkins won at the first playoff hole, leaving Bryan upset after seemingly squandering his chance for a second PGA Tour appearance.
However, the organisers were clearly impressed enough by his efforts to grant Bryan the opportunity to return to PGA Tour competition.
Bryan made one appearance on the PGA Tour, finishing T69 at the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship after qualifying on Monday. Bryan stated ahead of his PGA Tour debut alongside brother Wesley, “My main job is filming YouTube videos.”
The Myrtle Beach Classic takes held on May 9-12, coinciding with one of the Tour’s signature events, the Wells Fargo Championship.
