Maria Timofeeva, a Russian tennis star, admitted that she was ‘freaking out’ after discovering that more than £8,500 had gone missing from her bank account. Timofeeva was eliminated by Harriet Dart in the second round of qualification for the Madrid Open earlier this week, with the British player winning in three sets.

A few days after the match, Timofeeva disclosed that she had been robbed in the Spanish city for the second time in six months. She added that despite having her debit card with her for the majority of her stay, she discovered multiple unrecognised transactions on her bank account.

On Instagram, she stated, “Here I am back in Spain six months later and I’ve been robbed again.” So I’d want to relate my tale and could really need some help from individuals who have been in a similar scenario before or can tell me how it may happen, so let’s get to it.

“So, allegedly, in the last three days, while I’ve been in Madrid, someone has been withdrawing money from my bank account, totaling slightly more than €10,000 [£8,573]. I’m stressing out because I have no idea how this could happen.
