If the Premier League approves a new spending ceiling, Manchester City will have to drop roughly £200 million in spending, according to Football Insider sources
Top-flight clubs will gather on Monday (April 29) to consider a proposal for a new spending ceiling based on the league’s lowest revenue.
The new guidelines propose capping all expenditure at a multiple of the lowest earnings from commercial and broadcast fees.
Southampton had the lowest profits last season, receiving £104 million in broadcast and advertising fees from the Premier League.
It is believed that Monday’s meeting would examine how high the cap should be, with anticipation of a cap four or five times the amount of the lowest profits.
City smashed the Premier League income record in 2022-23 with a turnover of £713 million, although their total expenses increased to £754 million last season.

As a result, if the guidelines are passed next week, City will be required to reduce its overall spending by almost £200 million.
