Liverpool Told Nunez to ‘Ignore’ Social Media Criticism
Darwin Nunez, a forward for Liverpool, has received harsh criticism while he has been at Anfield.
Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool, has received harsh criticism all season long and recently removed several of his Instagram postings, which confused the fan base. Now, The Athletic’s James Pearce has disclosed what the Reds have warned the 24-year-old about social media.
Some Anfield supporters may have expected young Nunez of Benfica to become an instant sensation after the Merseyside club spent an incredible £85 million to get him. Nunez has scored a fair share of goals, but his wasted opportunities have started to bother Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Although some of the top attackers in the world lose a lot of opportunities—Erling Haaland has missed more huge chances than any other player in the Premier League—they frequently make up for it with a lot of goals.
Nunez Has Heard From Liverpool Regarding Social Media
This is a difficult time for the striker.
The Athletic’s Pearce talked about Liverpool’s comments to Nunez regarding social media on the Walk On podcast, implying that he ignores whatever he reads online.
“Darwin Nunez has been told numerous times by people at Liverpool to ignore that kind of thing. Don’t even look at it. I think especially last season, when things were tough, he was reading stuff online and it was really hurting him.”
Nunez, a Uruguayan striker who came off the bench in Liverpool’s 4-2 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, decided to remove a few of his most recent Instagram photos that included the Reds. Given the uncertainty surrounding the forward right now, it would have probably bewildered some of the supporters when Nunez came on towards the end of the game and the Merseyside team won the three points.
This season, the 24-year-old has faced a great deal of criticism, with many criticising his high rate of wasted opportunities. Nunez needs to score more goals in addition to what is expected of him as a centre forward for Jurgen Klopp to defend his selection.
